No fewer than 1,000 women in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory have benefited from a City Boy Movement women empowerment initiative, as the group also declared support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The programme was organised by the FCT Chapter of the City Boy Movement’s Women Wing, operating under the Office of the National Coordinator for Women Affairs. Coordinators said the initiative was designed to strengthen economic activity among women, deepen grassroots mobilisation and improve community participation in governance.
Beneficiaries received empowerment packages and support items targeted at small business growth, household income improvement and self-reliance.
Women Key to National Development, Says Coordinator

Speaking at the event, the National Coordinator for Women Affairs of the Women Wing, Hon. Ummusalma Rabiu, said women empowerment remained a critical tool for sustainable national development, poverty reduction and economic growth.
Rabiu added that women were key stakeholders in grassroots mobilisation, voter education, democratic participation and national development.
FCT Host Coordinator Links Drive to Tinubu Reforms
The FCT Women Affairs Coordinator, Dr Ene Adugba, who hosted the City Boy Movement women empowerment event, said the initiative was also intended to create awareness around the policies and achievements of President Tinubu’s administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Adugba said the administration had continued to pursue reforms and strategic interventions aimed at repositioning the economy despite prevailing socio-economic challenges.
Principal Secretary Cites Reform Milestones
The National Principal Secretary of the Women Wing said the Tinubu administration had demonstrated political will through reforms targeting economic stabilisation, infrastructure development and social intervention programmes. She added that youth and women empowerment, food security and improved investment opportunities were among the key areas of focus.
The group listed what it described as achievements of the administration, including increased investment in infrastructure and transportation, expanded student loan programmes, agricultural support, improved security coordination and policies directed at job creation and enterprise development.
Call for Continuity in Governance
Dr Adugba also used the occasion to reaffirm the group’s commitment to mobilising support for President Tinubu’s re-election, stressing that continuity in governance was essential to sustaining ongoing reforms.
According to the group, continuity would help consolidate gains recorded in infrastructure, security, agriculture, education, youth development and economic revitalisation.
The organisation further called on women, youths and other stakeholders to support initiatives promoting peace, unity, democratic participation and national development.
The City Boy Movement women empowerment programme in Kuje is part of a broader pattern of political mobilisation by pro-Tinubu groups intensifying activity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
