Ghana president John Dramani Mahama has enacted series of tax and financial reforms aimed at revitalising the country’s economy and ease financial burden on citizens, while fostering economic growth.
At a ceremony held at the seat of government on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, President Mahama emphasised that eliminating these taxes would boost economic activity and provide relief to individuals and businesses.
The removal of the Electronic Transfer Levy(E-Levy), which imposed a 1% tax on electronic transaction has been widely welcomed by businesses and individuals in Ghana who argued that it stifled digital transactions.
Also scraped is the Emission Levy, which has become a burden on vehicle owners and industries that run on Generators during power outages.
Mahama reaffirmed his pro-people economic approach, stating that his government would continue implementing policies aimed at easing financial hardships on the people.
