The Anambra State Police Command has intensified its security operations across identified flashpoints and suspected criminal hideouts, deploying joint security teams on sustained bush-combing and clearance exercises aimed at flushing out criminal elements and dismantling their operational bases.
The intensified Anambra security operations are being led by Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Harrison Oruruo, with personnel from other security agencies and Agunechemba operatives participating in the coordinated offensive.
The exercise forms part of the Command’s intelligence-driven strategy to deny criminal groups safe havens, disrupt their networks and prevent violent crimes, including kidnapping and armed robbery.
According to the police, the ongoing operations involve systematic searches of identified forest areas, bushes and other suspected hideouts where criminal elements may be operating or seeking refuge.
The joint teams are maintaining operational coordination to ensure wider coverage of the targeted areas and prevent suspected criminals from regrouping or relocating to other hideouts.
Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, reaffirmed the Command’s determination to sustain the offensive through intelligence-led policing, inter-agency collaboration and continuous security operations across the state.
He stressed that the exercises were not a one-off intervention but part of a broader security strategy intended to consolidate existing gains, protect lives and property, and enable residents to carry out their lawful activities without fear or intimidation.
The Commissioner assured residents that the police would maintain the operational momentum, with Anambra security operations continuing across the state until criminal activities are effectively curtailed
The intensified Anambra security operations also seek to deny criminal networks access to forested areas and other locations that could serve as operational bases for attacks, kidnappings and other violent offences.
While the police have not disclosed the specific locations covered by the latest exercises or provided details of arrests, weapons recovered or other operational outcomes, the Command says the clearance operations will continue as part of its sustained effort to contain criminal activities.
The police also urged residents to remain law-abiding and support security agencies with credible information that could assist ongoing operations.
The statement was issued on Saturday, October 31, 2026, by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
