Galien Africa and REMAPSEN Sign Strategic Partnership to Advance Health and Environmental Journalism in Africa

The Association Galien Africa and the African Media Network for the Promotion of Health and Environment (REMAPSEN) have formalised a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening health and environmental awareness across Africa through purpose driven impactful media engagement.

The agreement was signed on Wednesday, July 16, in Dakar, Senegal, in the presence of senior representatives from Senegal’s Ministry of Health and Social Action and the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Transition, as well as a broad array of national and international stakeholders.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bamba Youssouf, President of REMAPSEN, described the partnership as a major milestone in the organisation’s mission to empower African media professionals in the health and environmental sectors.

“This partnership is rooted in the shared vision of promoting health and environmental sustainability through knowledge exchange and robust media content,” he said.
“It will help build the capacity of African journalists, foster innovation through joint research, and elevate the media’s role in health and environmental policy.”

Mr. Youssouf also laid emphasises on the need for governments and institutions to fully integrate media communication into the strategic planning of health and environmental initiatives, both regionally and internationally.

Chair of Association Galien Africa, Professor Awa Marie Coll Seck, in his speech, praised REMAPSEN for its energy and leadership. She pledged Galien Africa’s continued support for REMAPSEN’s annual media forums, advocacy campaigns, and national coordination activities, particularly in Senegal.

As part of the agreement, REMAPSEN will provide media coverage for future editions of Forum Galien Africa and the Prix Galien Africa awards, slated for October 28–31, 2025, in Dakar. Themed “Health Sovereignty: An Imperative for Africa,” the events will bring together experts, policymakers, and innovators to discuss solutions to the continent’s health challenges.

REMAPSEN will also assist in disseminating Galien Africa’s press releases and co-organise webinars on pressing health and environmental topics.

The partnership is signed for an initial two-year period, renewable by mutual consent.
